Michael Bugno
Michael Bugno is a member of the LGBTQ+ community and a native of Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania. A graduate of Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania, where he studied Theatre Arts Administration, Michael now serves on the Marywood University Board of Trustees. He has long believed that everyone deserves to feel seen, valued, and included.
That belief inspired him to create The Bugno Buzz during the pandemic, a platform dedicated to sparking curiosity, sharing meaningful stories, and creating experiences that educate, inspire, and connect people. Through his writing, community involvement, and commitment to solidarity, Michael strives to build community, promote social responsibility, and create authentic connections.
Betty Bus and Her Journey of TRANSportation began as a passion project in 2017 and reflects Michael’s commitment to inclusion, identity, and allyship. Through Betty’s story, he hopes readers of all ages are reminded that every journey is unique, every traveler deserves respect, and being true to yourself is something to celebrate.
Michael is especially proud that the book’s illustrations were created by his goddaughter, whose creativity and talent bring the residents of Transitville to life. This book marks his debut as a children’s author, and he looks forward to sharing more adventures from Transitville in future works.
